Summary of Support for SA Businesses

Business Support Grant – Eligible SA small and medium businesses impacted by the latest COVID-19 restrictions can access a one-off $3000 emergency cash grant and a one-off $1,000 emergency cash grant to help cover operating costs such as rent, power bills and suppliers.

To be eligible for the one-off $3,000 grant, a business must as at 12:01am Tuesday 20 July 2021:

1. be located within SA and employ people in SA
2. have a valid and active ABN and be registered for GST
3. have an annual turnover of $75,000 or more in 2020-21 or 2019-20
4. have an Australia-wide payroll of less than $10 million in 2019-20
5. have experienced at least a 30% reduction (compared to the week prior) in turnover due to the restricted trading conditions.

To be eligible for the one-off $1,000 grant, a non-employing business must meet the criteria above excluding the employment requirement.

Applications are expected to open on 4 August and will close at 11.59pm on 30 September. Register interest for the cash grants on the SA Treasury website and by email to

Income support for regional SA Workers (COVID-19 Disaster Payment)  – The SA Government will provide fully-funded income support payments of up to $600 pw for eligible workers in regional SA, who live or work outside of the Commonwealth-declared ‘hotspot’ local government areas of Adelaide metro, Hills and Gawler areas (and are therefore not entitled to the Commonwealth Government’s $375 or $600 p.w. COVID-19 Disaster Payments).

The payments will be made in arrears for the lockdown.  Applications for income support payments for regional SA works can be made from 28 July.

The SA Government is also seeking to confirm with the Commonwealth Government that the vast majority of micro businesses not registered for GST will be eligible for the COVID-19 Disaster Payment.

The COVID-19 Disaster Payment can be applied for at Services Australia.
